6-8 December, 2013
From December 6– 8, 2013 a workshop on intercultural competence took place at the Forest Hostel in Windeck-Rosbach in Bergischen Land near Bonn.
This weekend seminar, funded by the DAAD, was attended by doctoral students from the ZEF, 2013 doctoral students from the FSC and 20 master students from the ARTS Program from the Faculty of Agriculture in Bonn. Altogether there were 65 participants. The workshop was organized and led by experts from the agency Partnership for Development in Bonn. In preparation for the workshop, the students from Hohenheim participated via videoconference in a two-week seminar prior to the meeting. The intercultural workshop placed special emphasis on personal experiences. To this end, there were discussions in small groups and subsequently in a plenary session. Games and role-playing were used as an aid. Among other things, there was a card game simulating the phenomenon of culture shock, where the students were trained how flexibly one can overcome such an event. Different solutions for solving cultural difficulties were presented throughout the workshop.
