Visit to the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture in Berlin
A group of 19 FSC scholars went to the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) in Berlin on January 15th, 2014. This year’s titel was “Empowering Agriculture: Fostering Resilience – Securing Food and Nutrition”. The core question was how the agricultural sector can be strengthened to secure food and nutrition for a growing world population. Over 1,500 participants, including 65 ministers from all over the world, discussed this question. A number of different organizers from politics, industry, science, and civil society, therefore, hosted a total of 21 expert panel discussions, inviting participants to discuss this core subject from different angles and as it related to different regions.
The excursion to GFFA in Berlin is part of the FSC module “Interdisciplinary Aspects of Food Security”. A day after the Forum the scholars went to the Technical University of Berlin where a lecture of the module was held.
