“Working Within Political Contexts” workshop in Berlin

This year’s workshop on “Working Within Political Contexts: Strategies and Methods for Implementation-oriented Research” took place from March 3rd – 8th, 2014 at the Pumpe Hostel in Berlin. 24 doctoral students attended from the FSC and ZEF. The objective of this workshop was to develop and improve current capacities of the PhD students to influence (local and national) decision makers regarding policies in their communities while working (during your PhD field research and after your PhD phase in the future) as researchers, public officers or at policy research institutes. The focus this year was put on the practical training. The training units were organized by Dr. Fuhrmann and Anne Riechert. The topics included: What is politics? How should and could politics work? Bridging the gap between science and society. Participants also applied the issues to their own situations in their research. Excursions were made to the Resistance Memorial, the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, and the Parliament.
