Congress on Food Science and Technology
The XVIII Latin American Seminar and V National Congress on Food Science and Technology “Science and innovation, an alliance for welfare” took place from March 31st to April 2nd, 2014 in San José, Costa Rica. In the plenary opening session, Prof. Biesalski presented on the topic “Food Security – not only a matter of quantity”.
The Hidden Hunger Symposium was organized by the Food Security Center with the Moderator Dr. Victor Jiménez. Participants in the podium discussion were: Dr. Mary Schmidl from the University of Minnesota on “Food Security Challenges Across the Globe”, Prof. Biesalski on “Hidden Hunger – the burden of the problem and why it is hidden” and Dr. Gola from the Institute of Nutrition and Prevention on “Design and Validation of a Program to detect gaps between: Micronutrients intake and their recommended values”.
