CLIFOOD Block Seminar 4: Official Day

Delegate of the of Hawasa University, Vice-Presedent for Academic Affairs Dr. Fisiha Getachew and Communication Directorate Director Armaye Assefa opened the official day of the Block Seminar 4 “Sustainable Intensification of African Livestock Systems in a Changing World” at Hawassa University on 30 November 2018. Prof. Dr. Reiner Doluschitz, Director of Food Security Center, (University of Hohenheim) and Dorothee Schwab, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) also welcomed participants and expressed their wished for a fruitful and successful work.

Highlights of the public event were:

  • Keynote “Future contribution of livestock to sustainable food and nutrition security” by Dr. Getnet Assefa, Human Nutrition Program of Ethiopia and Save the Children Programs, Ethiopia
  • Wrap-up session moderated by Prof. Dr. Aberra Melesse, Animal Breeding Animal and Range Sciences (Hawassa University), Prof. Uta Dickhöfer, Animal Nutrition and Rangeland Management in the Tropics and Subtropics and Williams Oyifioda Anteyi, PhD scholar, Institute of Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics (Hans-Ruthenberg-Institute), (University of Hohenheim)
  • Presentation of outcomes of the “Network Meeting of the Bilateral SDG Graduate Schools” by Matilda Freda Marful, CLEAN-AFRICA e.V. and Dr. Joy Alemazung , Senior Fellow, Global Governance Institute (GGI) Brussels, Agenda 2030 Facilitator

 

This seminar is part of the qualification program for the SDG Graduate School CLIFOOD, it is the fifth of seven Block Seminars planned per generation of PhD Scholars between the Hawassa University (HU) in Ethiopia and the University of Hohenheim (UHOH) in Germany.
