CLIFOOD

Soft skills seminar: Intercultural training, Ulm 26-28.01.2018

Improvement of methodological skills and soft skills is an important component of the CLIFOOD qualification program.

The soft skills seminar Intercultural Training organized in the cooperation with IKUD® Seminare took place in Ulm, at the Museum of Bread Culture, from January 26 to January 28, 2018.  The reason for choosing this location was the thematic connection to the CLIFOOD project as well as a long lasting and fruitful cooperation with Eiselen Foundation – founder and sponsor of the Museum of bread culture. Since 2011 the doctoral program at the Food Security Center have been supported by the Foundation fiat panis.

From Friday to Sunday CLIFOOD scholars from Hawassa University and University of Hohenheim as well as other FSC-scholars leant about the cultural differences in African countries and in Germany and could improve their intercultural competences with the trainer Dr. Emmanuel I. Ede.

Dr. Emmanuel I. Ede, German citizen of Nigerian descent, obtained his PhD degree in architecture at the University of Hannover and is a Certified Intercultural Trainer and Security Trainer. His deep understanding of both cultures and long experience of working in the international environment, especially in Western, Central and Eastern Africa was essential for the success of the training.

In addition to Intercultural training participants were given guided tour at the Museum of Bread Culture, could view some sites in Ulm (e.g. Ulm's cathedral tower, Old City, Einstein Monument) and could try traditional German Food in local restaurants.
