CLIFOOD presented at the International Nutrition and Food Industries Conference in Hawassa

International Nutrition and Food Industries Conference “Partnership for Effective Food and Nutrition Training and Sustainable Development” was held in Hawassa, Ethiopia on 15-18 August 2018. The three days’ conference was hosted by the Academic Center of Excellence for Human Nutrition of the Hawassa University. More than 250 participants of the conference represented different national and international universities, organizations and institution from Africa, Europe, USA and Canada, among others experts from GIZ, FAO, USAID, JHPIEGO etc.  20 research papers were presented by researchers and scholars, followed by fruitful discussions.

After the welcome speech of Mr. Ayano Beraso, president of Hawassa University and key note presentations Dr. Tesfaye Abebe, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer at Hawassa University and scientific leader of the German-Ethiopian SDG-Graduate School ‘Climate change effects on food security’ (CLIFOOD) gave an overview of international partnership experiences in Hawassa, in particular successful cooperation with the Food Security Center, University of Hohenheim within CLIFOOD. More detailed presentation about the CLIFOOD project was done by Dr. Sintayehu Yigrem, CLIFOOD coordinator at Hawassa University. Furthermore, participants of the conference had the opportunity for further discussions and information exchange with Dr. Sintayehu Yigrem about the CLIFOOD project during the breaks at the project information desk.
