Exceed Workshop on rural development:

Occupational health, safety, and food security

The International Center for Development and Decent Work - ICDD (University of Kassel)Center for International Health - CIH (Ludwig-Maximilians University) and Food Security Center - FSC (University of Hohenheim) hosted the exceed Workshop on rural development: occupational health, safety, and food security at the Autonomous University of Yucatan (Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán - UADY), in Merida, Mexico on November 6-10, 2017.

The workshop offered a platform for the networks of the three exceed centers with regional focus on Latin America. Senior and young Latin American scientists as well as stakeholders discussed the latest research focused on rural development and debated and shared ideas of diverse aspects regarding occupational health, safety, and food security.

A field trip to Yaxunah, a Mayan community of high social marginalization in Mexico, was organized by the UADY. During this field trip, the participants visited various projects that are being implemented in the community in order to achieve  the Sustainable development Goals by 2030.
